5 cheat foods that you can have during a diet!!

Are you befuddled by what nutrition experts mean by "eating healthy"? Let me tell you, even if you banish the unhealthy modern foods from your diet, you can still eat an endless variety of healthy and delicious foods. Here are the 5 weight loss friendly foods, that are supported by science.

Eggs

Eggs are inexpensive, the protein sticks with you, and they can be eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Grab a hard-boiled egg for breakfast or a snack for around 100 calories. Or make an omelet or scramble with spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms for dinner. If you’re watching your cholesterol, use half egg whites in the mix.

Whole grain breads

Whole grains stay with you longer than white flour, which loses nutrients and fiber in the refining process. Read the label to make sure the first ingredient listed is a whole grain, such as wheat or oats. You’ll also find whole grains in crackers, pasta and cereal.

Cheese

With 6 or more grams of protein per 1 ounce serving, cheese is a perfect snack with a few whole grain crackers or an apple. It also contains calcium, which most women need more of. Choose a low-fat cheese such as mozzarella or a more flavorful and pungent type, like sharp cheddar.

Whole grain pasta

Say "no, thank you" to regular pasta, which contains simple carbs that have no staying power in your stomach. Whole grain pastas have improved tremendously in recent years in taste and texture. If whole wheat pasta is new to you, try the thinnest noodles, such as angel hair—you may not even notice a difference.

Dark chocolate

A square of dark chocolate is more satisfying than milk chocolate, so you may be tempted to eat less. For a double-duty chocolate snack, dust some cocoa on a handful of almonds, which will curb your sweet tooth and provide a protein punch.

Easy Momo Burger recipe to satisfy your evening snack craving!!

Native to the Tibet region, Momo is a type of steamed bun with or without filling. Momo has become a traditional delicacy in Nepal, Tibet and India. Over the years, people's tastes have changed and they look for variations like pan fried or deep fried momos or those with schezwan sauce. Momo Burger, aka Moburg is the newest kid on the block. Since the momo dumplings are wrapped with a thin dough and steamed, I didn’t want it to get lost in a bun with a lot of condiments. I fried them first and combined spice blends that you would find in a well-stocked spice cupboard rather than giving a long list.

Ingredients:

Flour- 300gm
Baking Powder- 1/2 teaspoon
Spring Onion- 1
Garlic- 1 clove
Chicken/pork- 100gm
Soya Sauce- 1/2 teaspoon
Vinegar- 1/2 teaspoon
Black Pepper- 1/2 teaspoon
Bun- 1

Method:

1.       Mix the refined flour, salt and baking powder and knead to a stiff dough, with water.
2.       Heat 1 tbsp oil and add the finely chopped spring onion and minced garlic. Saute till a little soft and add the chicken. Turn around over high heat till chicken is almost cooked. Take it off the heat and mix in the soya sauce, salt, vinegar and black pepper.
3.      Roll the dough thin (translucent) and cut into 4"-5" rounds. Take a round, wet edges and place some filling in the center, bring edges together to cover the filling, twist to seal and fill the rest in the same way.
4.       Steam for about 10 minutes. Then deep fry in hot oil till brown and crisp.
5.       Tuck into a warm crusty bun & add your favourite toppings! Serve with French fries and a pinch of your creativity.

5 Places in Kolkata to satisfy your sugar rush!!

There’s this consistent urge inside all of us to make our lives as sweet as possible. While tasting sweets may not be all there is to do to bring that about, it is hard to conceive of a joyful life without satiating our sweet cravings every now and then. These 5 places will help you just do that!!

1.       Hot chocolate at Mrs Magpie: This place has always been close to my heart, courtesy the cupcakes and the cute and painstakingly detailed decor, with a dollhouse theme! The mini cupcakes are heavenly, especially the nutty praline, but the hot chocolate is off the scale and made with real chocolate; it's so thick and is undoubtedly the best hot chocolate that is served in Kolkata.

2.       Belgian Waffles at Piccadilly Square: Bang opposite Hindustan Club on Sarat Bose Road, this charming little bistro has tried to recreate the London street cafe atmosphere, with the street lamp replicas and the name. Although it is a little expensive, the Belgian Waffles are worth the money!

3.       Pancakes at Biker’s Café : This place is probably heaven for all the bike lovers! Although this place too fares on the pricier side, I'd still pinch my pocket a little for the soft pancakes loaded with choco syrup and whipped cream.

4.       Red Velvet Cheesecake at Paris Café: One of those cafes in Kolkata which is a must visit, not just for its quaint Parisian ambiance but also for the food, and the crowd. I can vouch for their red velvet cheesecake with 2 layers of red velvet, a layer of cheesecake inside- topped with cream cheese frosting.

5.       Crème Brûlée Cupcake at The Rouge: The Crème Brûlée cupcake is an assoc cupcake topped with custard covered in a hard caramel layer, and one has to crack the caramel with a tap of the spoon like in a real Crème Brûlée. The Rouge is undoubtedly the perfect place to satisfy one's sugar rush cravings.

Whether you have a sweet tooth or not hardly matters. One look at these will definitely melt your heart and your taste buds!
